Tracey Meakin's family bathroom in Chesterfield, Derbyshire had fallen out of date, with a huge corner bath dominating the room and leaving little usable space. Tracey was open to ideas and gave David Lord Kitchens a free hand on the layout, with one clear request: open the space up.
The brief called for a complete rethink of the room using the Chincho range, replacing the old bath with a practical walk-in shower and rearranging the fittings to make the most of every corner.
The old bathroom was stripped out completely and the plumbing altered to suit the new layout. The toilet and basin were moved to the back wall, a new shower tray was fitted in the opposite corner with a dual-head shower and glass panel, and a heated towel rail replaced the old radiator. Cabinets were fitted across the window wall to provide the storage the room had been missing.
The walls were finished with UPVC panels in a Matt Carrara marble finish, the ceiling was clad in white UPVC boards with four downlights, and the floor was finished with Amtico LVT click-smart tongue-and-groove flooring. The only snag was the soil pipe needing repositioning to the window wall — everything else fitted as planned, and the work was timed around Tracey going on holiday so she could return to the finished room.
The finished bathroom swapped the old corner bath for a walk-in shower, freeing up space and giving the room a brighter, more modern feel with its marble-effect walls, heated towel rail and Amtico flooring — all completed within an 11-day window.
Tracey's favourite part is being able to walk straight in and out of the shower without filling a large bath, and she's pleased with the extra space the new layout created throughout the room.
